Jest messing around with GSG’s sub polygon displacement tutorial. Pretty cool stuff. This would be awesome with some music based animation. I messed around for a while and this is the coolest result I got. Moon-like crater land.
…are never finished. Or are they? Some never see the light of day. Who is to say what is complete? The finest form of art is in the process. Some things don’t need an end. This had a good start, some good momentum. I’m not sure where it was supposed to go but this is where it currently is. Building. Structure. Dimension.
Apparently I don’t make very good use of my massive monitor. At least not today. Check out IOGraphica, and app that turns your mouse movements into modern art. I like.
I stumbled upon Mark Weaver‘s site today…you might want to stumble over there yourself. Some really cool work. I think its the simple shapes, classic objects and colors that draw me in. I’m a fool for simple geometry and lines…
I’m trying to get my brain out of the coding mess and back into more design and creative realms. The easiest way is some good old tutorials to get the blood flowing in the right direction again and fuel some creativity…I hope this blog eventually turns into a mess of graphic experiments.
Chase‘s Washed Out video made Pitchfork‘s list of top music videos of 2009! Congrats Chase, and Fiction.
Also…Charles (Fiction‘s Creative Director) whipped up some sweet show visuals for the Viernes show last weekend. I missed it to due the Crash-O-Rama, but I heard it was great! Luckily we can still see pieces of the show visuals on vimeo:
DT.com, coming soon. I think it’s also about time for a portfolio update…since it’s been 2+ years and everything in there is school projects, hah. Let me just add that to my never ending list…
Pasta Simpla! This is hands down one of the coolest abstract fonts I’ve ever seen. And I can’t wait to get crazy with it! Thanks Bela for the .otf! Check out the masterminds website, Fabergraph, for more coolness…Thanks to Abduzeedo for the link and for fresh fonts every Friday. Get pumped!
The new & improved Annalemma.net is live! I’ve been working on this site for a while now over at FCTN and I’m excited to see it up. Don’t just limit yourself to the new online content…get your hands on a copy of the print magazine as well. Looking forward to the next issue, and constant updates on the new site! Horray for unique stories and original content, we need more if this in our lives.
I picked this lovely combination of wooden blocks yesterday from Brandon. Pretty excited! Not sure where they will call home yet, the office or my room. Might be good on the blank walls of the office for some inspiration. The lady in the blue bathingsuit reminds me of my Grandma Cleone that’s on my wakeskate graphic, looks just like her. You can get your own over at Elus1v, 4 for $20, and make your own composition. Thanks B!
Looking for some fresh art for your wall? B McLean’s got a good deal going on right now over at ELUS1V. All of the blocks from his Ybor Urban Outfitters window display are up for grabs and will be shipped off when he takes the display down at the end of the month. One block for $6 or 4 for $20, giving you a chance to create your own composition. I just picked 4 out…tough decision. Cool idea B! I can’t wait for my mini composition. Stoked for you…
I’ve been all over this guys website the last few days soaking up some inspiration. Emil Kozak is talented. He is really good at what he does, and I wouldn’t mind borrowing his skills for a hot minute. Take a peek at his site, EMILKOZAK.COM and don’t forget the archives section!
My buddy Brandon McLean just did an art installation in the window of the Urban Outfitters in Ybor City, Congrats B! That’s huge! Can’t wait to see this in person…
There are over 350 blocks of art in the installation, you can check most of them out individually at ELUS1V, along with more installation photos and coverage. Keep it up B!
Ps – The die cut sticker machine is warmed up and ready to cut if you need anything. I made the window stickers for Brandon’s installation, in exchange for a lovely little peice. Score! :)
The ever so Elus1v, B McLean had a grand little opening at Fourty Seven Clothing last Thursday. I’m loving the new vibe, vintage images and the color! Swing on by to check out some of the pieces, not to mention the hip collection of shoes/clothes 47 has. Brandon’s also got some artwork on display at Lambs Eat Ivy Saloon in Thornton Park. It’s great seeing local venues supporting local artists. Congrats B, love the new work!
Alas, here are the photos of the Jenny Danger! Erich posted them on wakeskating.com, you can check out the forum thread here to see what everyone thinks. So far so good. I’m pumped, they’re pumped, Grandma’s pumped! Thanks Integrity!
Man, it seems almost as if I have fallen of the face of the Earth. My apologies. I had work to finish so I could leave town, rides to catch, poor car buying decisions to make. So this is where I have been, what I have been working on…after hours of final touches, we are live. Fiction 2009 : FCTN.TV. Don’t forget to check out our sweet blog as well. Oh and tell all your friends ; )
What are you doing on Thursday night? I think you and some friends should join me at Triple Treat! 3 Art Shows. 1 Gallery. 30+ Artists. I’m sure you can read the flyer. I’ll be there supporting my good friend Brandon McLean. He has some peices in the show pieces in the show and just put a bunch of great new pieces up at Lambs Eat Ivy Saloon in Thorton Park. Check it out!
I bought a small sketchbok while I was working in LA to keep me sane while my computer chugged away. I left it in my friends car when she came to visit and I just got it back…and now I share with you. Pardon my pitiful excuse for a scanner. I’ll write more things soon. Instead of just sharing pictures. I’m not sure where my writing has gone, but I’ll find it soon.
Some very impressive illustration by the Bulgarian designer Kaloian Toshev. If you make it to his site, make sure you check out the Quantum of Solace piece. It’s almost too stunning to post here…
I’m finding lots of great things on the inter-web while I listen to classical music that might go well with moving pictures of football. The combo seems strange to me but I guess it works. I’m in LA for two weeks for work but my computer is working harder than I am. I found this guy Thomas today on Doodler’s Anonymous…he is going to draw a tattoo a day on his arm with sharpie, lyrics or a phrase to focus on throughout the day. Lovely idea (minus all the ink sinking into your skin), and everyday he puts a picture of it on Flickr.
Kyle Patrick Smith. I wish I could draw like Kyle and Jason, figures instead of simple lines and shapes. I think maybe I could if I just let myself…let the pen free, take the chains off my brain. Don’t be afraid, trust the mess. These are all things I need to learn. If you know anyone else who draws pen and ink like this, please share! I’m looking for more inspiration. Aside from great drawings in his sketchbook, Kyle has a pretty rocking portfolio. I’m pretty sure he’s a Full Sail grad too. Nice work Kyle!
