The Danger Has Arrived!

3.04.09

Jen | life. shred. //

Yesterday was possibly the greatest day in United Post Office history. At least it was as far as the Conway house goes. After months of finding inspiration and playing around in photoshop…

The Integrity Jenny Danger is here!

As much as I would love to post a photo up for you, Integrity gets the honors. So hold on to your shorts, you’ll see it soon. Grandma is going to be proud. In the meantime I’ve got some serious gripping decisions to make. Suggestions welcome.

Man, it seems almost as if I have fallen of the face of the Earth. My apologies. I had work to finish so I could leave town, rides to catch, poor car buying decisions to make. So this is where I have been, what I have been working on…after hours of final touches, we are live. Fiction 2009 : FCTN.TV. Don’t forget to check out our sweet blog as well. Oh and tell all your friends ; )

For Sale: Ski Cuda.

2.05.09

Jen | life. //

skicuda1

Sorry ‘Ski Cuda. We had our fun. We might even have more fun while you are for sale. I need a jetski, it’s just more realistic for wakeskating multiple times a day and trying to progress. I probably should have bought a jetski off the bat, but we definitely had some good times with the Barracuda. It is a flippin’ sweet boat! I hope it gets a good home. As I was listing it for sale I found this Barracuda:

photo1

So I’m thinking if we can’t sell it, I might just have to get neutral and reverse back and turn her into the ultimate ‘classic’ shred machine as seen above…

Ps – I’m car shopping. They found my car and its been filed a ‘total loss’ which to me has been a ‘tota gain’. I actually made a bit of money off of my stolen car. This is working out way better than the first time it was stolen. I’m on the market for a 4-Runner or black Pathfinder. Don’t know why, but the pathfinder has to be black. Hah. I’ve got till Monday!

Bye Honda.

1.26.09

Jen | life. //

I woke up extra early today to go to work, I’ve got a busy week ahead of me. Packed my lunch and walked outside to find my car…nowhere. This is a familiar feeling. This has happened before, two years ago. Whose car gets stolen twice from in front of their own home? I thought this neighborhood was nice enough but I still parked my car under the motion sensor light just in-case. New sunglasses, precious wakeskate, lifejacket & wetsuit top, ipod…probably never too be seen again. I probably care more about my Integrity wakeskate than the car, although I’m sure I can get another wakeskate.

My roommate comes running out the front door this morning in her pajamas as I’m filing a police report, “Dude! I heard your car start at like 2:30am, I was wondering where you were going! I had a dream my car was stolen so I woke up in a panic to check!” Her ballin’ tahoe was parked right in front of mine, doors open, valuables inside. Idiot’s for theifs if you ask me. Better my beater car than hers though!

Luckily this time I’m 21 and I can rent a car. Last time I was stuck taking the very poor public transportation all the way to FullSail everyday. Time to start car shopping…Odds are I won’t see my car again. ’93-’98 Honda Civics are the most stolen cars. I think most of them go straight to a warehouse to be stripped. I got pretty screwed over when they found it last time, I ended up having to rebuild the transmission shortly after with no help from insurance. I had esurance then (jerks), and so far with this process I’ve been very pleased with Progressive.

I wonder how car theifs work though. Do they have it planned out or do they just drive around looking for hondas late at night? Because if its planned out that means they’ve been watching us and thats creepy. I feel like my worst enemy just used my toothbrush and I didn’t find out till after I brushed my teeth….ugh.

The Haps.

1.25.09

Jen | life. //

Long time no see eh? I know, I’m sorry. I’m looking for some worthy content and working away. Good news, The Projects blog is now live (full site to come soon). That’s some weight off of my shoulders. Speaking of The Projects, they have two System 2.0′s set up, you can see some video of the 2.0 in action at Coin Productions. I’ve had the chance to ride it a few times, I’m calling it out as innovation of the year. I could go for one in my backyard. It’s hard to go from the System 2.0 to the regular cable (OWC). Now every time I fall at o-dub I’m thinking, “C’mon, pick me up!”. In all seriousness though, you should give it a whip. It’s going to change the industry.

In the meantime, this is what I’ve been up to:
- Girl Ride Day every Monday from 4-close at OWC
- Sunday picnics by the lake
- Making use of every free gym pass in the area while the weather is cold (getting my run on!)
- Building websites…and helping people with their sites.
- Wakeskating in ice water!
- Suzy Q is in the shop…fate to be determined soon. (ps. either way, she’s for sale, fate determines price).
- Two new four legged roommates, Lucy & Apollo.
- Tahoe trip in one month!
- The sticker machine has been dusted off and is cutting away.

Things I want to be up to:
- Editing new riding footage, shooting Super 8mm and taking more photos.
- Relaxing. (Obligation Free!)
- Fixing my bike.
- Wakeskating twice a day…in warm weather hah.

Matt Addington came out on the boat today! You can almost hear my excitement in the explanation marks! I have seen a handful of professional photography portfolios, Matt’s work still blows my mind. The colors! The focus! I would trade his talent for mine anyday. Check out some more shots from today on his blog. You can also check out his portfolio. Next time he’s riding, I’m shooting. ;)

Bye Callie!

12.03.08

Jen | life. //

Hi Callie! Bye Callie! This is my sister…she’s amazing. Yesterday she went back to Tahoe after living with me and my crazy awesome roommates for something around three months.

A few advantages to living with my sister:

- She is my best friend.

- She loves to cook and clean…two things I don’t reserve much time for. (she cooks for a living, and she’s great at it!)

- She’s not afraid to tell it how it is…straightforward and honest. She will hold me accountable.

- She is a social butterfly, which makes going anywhere more fun.

- She has lots of great clothes to borrow! (& great style).

- PIC: Partner In Crime, and she is as motivated as I am. Go, go, go!

The Conway Punks will miss you! Come back soon…<3

“How is it even remotely possible that a graffiti artist with a lengthy arrest record and a history of breaking multiple laws in the name of “art” is branding the most visually successful presidential campaign of all time?”

I just came across an interview with Shepard Fairey, the street & graphic artist behind the inspirational Obama image seen all over the place. Pretty neat, check it out.

On another note, congrats America!! Obama ’08!

I’m a Walking Disaster.

9.17.08

Jen | life. random. //

Ridiculous things that have happened to me in the last few weeks:

- Tripping over a bike tire in the garage then flying into a cement step…drink in hand. Knees hit the edge of the step, hip and elbow on cement, 4 sweet bruises, spilled my drink everywhere. I can’t believe I didn’t break my glass.

- Jumping off a 40 foot cliff into the lake which threw out my back and bruised my tailbone because I landed wrong.

- I dropped my iPhone in the toilet on the 3rd day I had it. Post piss, pre flush. Ugh. Fished it out then ran it under the sink (bad move?). I guess there was a reason I didn’t have one.

- Getting up, showered, and dressed for work then sitting in a chair the cat pissed on only minutes before. The worst part was not realizing it until I sat up 10 minutes later.

- A two hour drive to go ride in Chuluota…partially because of 5o’clock traffic and a bad route, and the other part because I don’t know my left from right.

- And then getting stuck in Chuluota because my roommates dipped without saying a word and my car keys where in their truck…but I didn’t know that so I searched for 45 mins.

- I accidentally hit my friend in the face who already had two black eyes, a broken nose, and 6 stitches. He bled from his stitches.

I know there is more…I’m a wreck. Not in a bad way, but in the I can walk without tripping over my own feet kind of way.

Surf Expo. We Survived.

9.15.08

Jen | life. shred. //

I survived Surf Expo weekend. They should hand out shirts that say that on Sunday. We scored two sweet rolling chairs because they were there, and I was there, and the walk was really far. Enough said. I crashed at 10pm Friday, and well, I don’t remember most of Saturday night…but I know it was epic. Probably one of my best nights in downtown Orlando ever. Big ups to Integrity. I’m stoked I got to meet, party, and ride with the faces behind the masterpeice (Erich and Derek)…soo pumped to be part of la familia. Oh yea, and I think we tried to hi-jack some eola swan paddle boats on the way back to the car…hah, EPIC.

Slow Down.

9.08.08

Jen | feelings. life. //

I didn’t forget about you. No such thing. Can’t happen. I feel like I might be the new energizer bunny. I can’t stop. I just keep going, and going, and going. I can’t even stop long enough to catch my breath. And if I try it only gets worse because of the anxiety of the things I need to get done. My to-do list just about hits the floor. That’s my own problem. Learn how to say no. What is my time really worth?

Whats new? There is nothing in Oklahoma City, don’t bother. I need more RAM. I got to color all day at work last week. I won Worlds. It’s Passion Week. Status was amazing on Sunday. I worked so long on animating vines for Status, I dreamed I was a vine. Not only was I a vine, but I was on a 1 minute loop. I don’t get it either, it was insane. I ate at waffle house 3x this week. I’m working on prioritizing my life. Bedtime. Photos and mas news asap.

Being | Becoming .

8.31.08

Jen | genius. life. //

“That is why it is so important to let certain things go. To release them. To cut loose. People need to understand that no one is playing with marked cards; sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose. Don’t expect your genius to be discovered or your love to be understood. Complete the circle. Not out of pride, inability, or arrogance, but simply because whatever it is no longer fits into your life. Close the door, change the record, clean the house, get rid of the dust. Stop being who you were and become who you are.

Paradoxical Romance Novel.

8.21.08

Jen | genius. life. random. //

This is pretty daring of me to put this photo up knowing most people won’t read the text explaining the situation. It’s called word association. I say ‘apple’ you say whatever comes to your mind first, for example: ‘orange’. We are in the car on the way back from Angora, Jason says ‘paradoxical’. I say ‘romance’, then take a big sip of water. Jason starts laughing. I start laughing. Kress says ‘novel’. Paradoxical romance novel. I laugh so hard I have a constant stream of water pouring out of my mouth and all over my lap for what feels like 3 minutes. Funny funny. Highlight of the day.

Paradox
: a statement that appears to be self-contradictory but may actually be true
: a situation which theoretically should not be able to exist but in reality does; a self-contradiction
: a sound logical argument leading to a logical absurdity.

Today’s Life Motto.

8.11.08

Jen | life. random. //

Interesting and completely random lunch AIM conversation:

Jen: I feel like my (or our?) life motto right now should be: Jen…aiming for awkward.

Lacy: really cause mine would be: Lacy…unintentionally awkward.

Jen: or are you aiming for awkward unintentionally?

          Lacey…unintentionally aiming for awkward.

Lacey: maybe subconsciously?

Jen: can you unintentionally aim?

          yea. maybe subconsciously.

Lacey: subconsciously aiming for awkward…and oncoming traffic.

Jen: love it.

Lacey: hold on. i gotta update the fb with that shit.

fb = facebook…of course.

Tahoe! I’m Coming Home.

8.09.08

Jen | life. //

Tahoe! I miss you…and I’m coming home (for a week) ! I haven’t been home since Christmas, thats a record long time, and I don’t like it. So I have to make the most of the week and these are some of the things I would like to do:

. Angora
. Emerald Pools
. Fly with Kumster
. Float the Truckee
. Moonlight Kayak
. Boat Camp
. White Water Raft
. Hike

and of course there are the standard daily sunrise wakeskate sessions on Tahoe with the crew, and the list of restaurants I have to hit. Pretty thick list, but I think we cross most of them off pretty easily. Here’s a few photos of emerald pools from a few years back…

Love that place. Oh yea, and the SF Outside Lands Festival is in town at the same time. Which basically means a weekend in the city with some amazing music. Radiohead, Jack Johnson & Tom Petty, as the headline bands. YESSS! Who wants to come? Hah.

Let’s Go For A Fang.

8.02.08

Jen | life. random. //

Let’s go for a fang! Not to be confused with a big sharp tooth, the kiwis (Founts) call a speedy boat cruise a ‘fang’. Lovely word. Andrea we are going to miss you! Suzy Q has been good to us, from late night cruises to fangs. Jen Hettler snapped this sweet little photo on her fish eye holga, I need to get my hands of one of those! You can find the rest of her holga photos here, oh joy.

Critical Mass was glorious as usual until we got rained out, but that didn’t stop us from having a good time. Our crew found the closest happy hour and waited it out. The Annalemma Magazine release party was a real hit, I’m sorry if you missed it. I didn’t capture any of the action, but Chris and Chase both have photos of the fun, check out all the excitement you missed.

Preemptive Love: Buy Shoes. Save Lives.

7.28.08

Jen | inspiration. life. //

The Preemptive Love Coalition – Buy Shoes. Save Lives. These shoes look awesome. Not only to they look awesome, but all of the profits go to fund heart surgeries for Iraqi children dying from lack of health care. Give a little, get a little. This is what they say:

“We will not embrace the hate handed down to us. We will not retaliate. We will not repay evil with evil. We will use business – yes, even fashion – we will beg; we will teach; we will make film and sing our songs; but whatever we do we will do with love, because “…love never fails.” Trade and aid; commerce and charity. To give ourselves away. We choose Preemptive Love.

If that sparks your interest you should keep your eye on the two young men at To Open Your Eyes. They are about to make the brave journey to Iraq to document what the Preemptive Love Coalition is doing and become part of the movement…

Prove It.

7.28.08

Jen | feelings. life. //

If someone were to look at your life, could they see what it is that you stand for? Do your actions reflect what you claim to believe? The struggle is not to by the word tell people what you believe, the struggle comes when they look at your life and can’t see it because you haven’t left any evidence of your beliefs through your actions. So where they ever really your beliefs? Or simply words you took comfort in?

Let’s Get Critical (Mass).

7.24.08

Jen | life. random. //

Rally the troops! Tomorrow is Critical Mass! I love the last Friday of the month. Dust of your bike, pump up the tires and meet up with us at Loch Haven at 5:30pm for a nice afternoon cruise where a few hundred bicyclers own the streets for an hour. And then after that how about a drink at the Annalemma Magazine release party? Pardon me while I plan your Friday for you…hah.

City Living.

7.12.08

Jen | life. random. //

I want to live in a real city. Not for long, just long enough to get comfortable, then leave. Maybe a few months, maybe a year, nothing more. No car, just bike and walk everywhere or hop on the subway. I’m not sure at what point in my life or where, but I have four cities in mind: Austin, Portland, Toronto, and Auckland. The only one I have been to is Toronto, Canada, eh?. Everyone tells me I would absolutely love Austin and Portland. I’m dying to go to New Zealand and hangout with Founts! Each one had water nearby, and thats what really matters…

Austin

Portland

Auckland

Toronto
