I just got back from one of the most beautiful places in the world…

Cassie and I went swimming right after I took this photo, no neoprene…brr. I only got to stay for a hot minute. I flew in and out of Reno for Nor Cal Convergence so I could say hi to my family and friends along with get some Tahoe time! Cass joined as my P.I.C. (partner in crime). She’s never been to Tahoe, so we took her straight to Tahoe Tessie’s favorite fish for a swim. I screamed. That’s a scary fish to swim over…

Convergence was EPIC, I’m already counting down for #10. Lot’s of good riding, drinking, and bonfire coal juggling goodness. I forgot to throw out the disclaimer that I’m not actually good at juggling. I got this handy-dandy super neat iPhone app that makes photos look all awesome Holga/Polariod style. I don’t even want to use my regular point and shoot anymore. This is the best iPhone photo I have ever taken:

More photo action from Tahoe/NCC coming soon…!

Rome: Caught On Film.

6.03.09

Jen | photos. travel. //

I brought all the rolls of film in but I could only afford to pick up half, thanks to my Colonial Photo & Hobby gift card. Hopefully they didn’t toss the rest, I should be able to afford to pick it up soon. I’m no pro, hence only 2 pictures out of the whole black and white 35mm roll came out. Apparently I spun a dial on accident and everything was over exposed except for a few. I’m kind of bummed the photo of my grandma precisely licking her gelato so none dripped didn’t come out. Oh well. Sometimes you just have to fully enjoy the moment and not focus on capturing it. That’s what I seem to be better at anyways, I usually find myself carrying around some cameras but enjoying myself too much I forget about them. Well, here is half of Rome I managed to capture:

Thank You Mr.Addington.

Jen | inspiration. life. photos. shred. //

Matt Addington came out on the boat today! You can almost hear my excitement in the explanation marks! I have seen a handful of professional photography portfolios, Matt’s work still blows my mind. The colors! The focus! I would trade his talent for mine anyday. Check out some more shots from today on his blog. You can also check out his portfolio. Next time he’s riding, I’m shooting. ;)

I want to live in the world Matt captures through his lens…It’s surreal, gorgeous, and I absolutely love the colors. Matthew Addington is a very talented local photographer, I just thought you should know. ‘Very talented’ is an understatement, the photos speak for themselves. For some consistent eye candy, check out his blog!

I ended up in New Orleans for work, sort of short and sweet. Some things don’t seem real until you see them for your own two eyes… like hurricane Katrina. You may have felt for these people from the news you saw on tv or the paper, but you don’t really believe what you see until it is right before your eyes. And I am saying that as I am seeing it 3 years later. Every other house in the 9th ward hasn’t been touched since the hurricane. Its rough to see the ‘x’ on almost every building that counts the number inside dead, etc….even if all the numbers I saw were zero. I met a bunch of cool people from the Urban Ministry in Desire. I snapped a few photos, most of them are on my 35mm and Holga though, so you won’t see them for awhile. I took a few with the little digi Tu-tone let Jnonymous borrow for immediate satisfaction…

Je T’aime St.Barth’s.

6.21.08

Jen | life. photos. //

Good news just keeps coming…it’s unreal. Almost every time I talk to my Mom on the phone I think I ask her if and when she is going to St.Barth’s again, and pleeease can I come! She called me today, all fired up, because she knew how excited I would be to hear we are going back in November. The whole family, and she’s getting married there. Congratulations Mom! It’s so gorgeous there! And unbelievably expensive, hopefully the euro to the dollar drops before then.

I made some promises last year when we were there that when I came back I’d know more than how to say ‘hi, how are you,’ ‘my name is Jennifer,’ and ‘thank you for the milk’ (which is very important to know in case you drive by a cow pasture and need to yell it out the window, thanks dad.) Oh yea, and last year Bob taught Callie and I how to tell a guy off, which translates to ‘go lay down, dog’. Looks like I have some serious French to learn! Je t’aime!

There are a bunch of holga’s from last years trip on my Flickr

Meet ‘Cuda.

Jen | life. photos. shred. //

Ladies & gentleman, the day has finally come. I am the proud new owner of a ‘68 Correct Craft Barracuda, a true wakeskating machine. Big ups to PG Sergio for making dreams come true, and Scott & Sue! The Conway house finally has a riding machine. She’s got a rocking tape deck / FM stereo in her as well. Sorry Stella, the ‘Cuda takes the cake. Good days are ahead. We are taking her out first thing tomorrow…shredding photos soon! Come play!

PicsEngine – Translated

6.08.08

Jen | nerd. photos. tech. //

I found this really amazing dynamic open-source photo gallery, PicsEngine. It is hands down the best free flash image gallery I have ever seen. However, everything is in French, which makes it pretty hard to understand…until you whip out a little bit of google translate and a whole lot of patience. Then it makes some sort of sense or another. WIth the help of the translator and finding the ‘language’ file and re-translating everything to English…I was able to figure out how to download, upload, and create my own test gallery with a bunch of photos I have laying around…Check it out.

PicsEngine has a really easy to use and user friendly admin section. You can have albums and sub-albums, descriptions, photo comments, an RSS feed, a download link etc. Pretty awesome. Hit me up if you want to use it and you need some help!

The B&W Series Continues…

5.18.08

Jen | life. photos. //

Did you know Wal-Greens develops film for free on Wednesdays? Who knew. Maybe not every Wednesday, but this last Wednesday they did, and the Wednesday before. Thanks for the heads up Cassie. So I grabbed by 35mm and finished off the 12 photos left on the roll that has been in the camera for a few months. Turns out the photos I ran around taking in a rush to finish the roll were 4x better than the ones I took my time with. Funny how that works.

This is basically my new self-portrait…

A few highlights from the roll…click to see full image.

…more on my Flickr.
